Upgrading from CodeKeep Version 1

CodeKeep Version 2 is a brand-new app, rebuilt from the ground up. If you bought CodeKeep Version 1, you can get CodeKeep Version 2 for free.

Claim your free upgrade

  1. Step 1: Find your CodeKeep Version 1 receipt

    You can use the receipt email from Apple, or a screenshot of CodeKeep in your purchase history: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Media & Purchases › View Account › Purchase History.

  2. Step 2: Email it to us

    Send it to support@codekeep.app with the subject “CodeKeep Version 2 upgrade”.

  3. Step 3: Redeem your promo code

    We’ll reply with a promo code. To redeem it, open the App Store, tap your profile picture, then tap Redeem Gift Card or Code.

Move your codes to CodeKeep Version 2

CodeKeep Version 1 doesn’t have an export option, so codes need to be added to CodeKeep Version 2 by hand. Both apps can be installed at the same time, so there’s no rush.

Tips to make it quicker

  • Keep CodeKeep Version 1 installed until you’ve moved everything across.

  • Add the codes you use most often first.

  • Add each code while you’re at the door or gate if you can, then tap the location button on the Add screen’s map to drop the pin where you’re standing. The code will then show up as nearest next time you’re there.

  • Otherwise, tap the map in the Add screen to place the pin, or use the full-screen map with satellite view for big sites.

  • Use the notes field for anything you need to remember, like “Level –1 barrier” or “Press # after the code”.

Once your codes are in CodeKeep Version 2, turn on Encrypted iCloud Backup in Settings so you never have to re-enter them again. You can also export an encrypted copy from Settings › Data Export at any time.
